I have worked for Mozolowski & Murray since the start of 1995, so I have been with the company for over 20 years now. Originally a joiner for a period of 3 years, I went on to become the Installations Manager.
My role includes overseeing all of our ongoing jobs during their construction phase, ensuring all aspects of the process run smoothly and to the standards required. Meeting with clients onsite to discuss their project is also an integral part of my role. It is important clients are kept informed and are happy with how their project is progressing at such a crucial stage.
I also work closely with the drawing office team, assisting them to ensure the correct details are used when it comes to construction, for example, bespoke roof materials and timbers etc.
Ordering the timber finish kits for the joiners is also part of my role.
I think I am quite happy sticking to what I know, however, if I was to pick the guy who seems the most relaxed and stress free in his job, it would be our most experienced painter, Alan Smith.
Design, Quality and Drive.
There are always projects that have the wow factor, so I don’t think I could choose a favourite. What I would say though is, it is such a good feeling handing over a beautiful conservatory to a client at the end of its construction, to see first hand the delight and enthusiasm they have for their new space.
“Wee Dov”. I have always been called “Wee Dov”, even from a young age. I think it might be something to do with my height, but I’m not sure.
I wouldn’t know where to start, so I won’t!
Any one of my two sons, they’ve got it easy.
Jim Clark (1963-1965) Motor Racing World Champion. To hear his tales of the amazing races of his time, when it was actually the driver who won the races and not always the best racing car.
Having recently restored a 1973 VW Camper, I enjoy getting away for the weekend and visiting classic car shows.
I have been a World Champion in model stock cars.
I have been with Mozolowski & Murray for just over a year and a half and my role within the company is working in stores. This involves placing orders for products that are required for each job, such as glass and guttering etc. and for equipment that the site guys need to do their jobs. I also unload deliveries using the forklift and book deliveries into our system. I ensure the factory and our yard is always clean and tidy and make sure everything is in the correct place.
I think if I was to swap my job with someone else at Mozolowski & Murray, it would have to be Nikky Miller, because since I started working with the company, I have always looked up to Nikky, as she is one of the most hardworking employees at Mozolowski & Murray and has so much passion for her role and for the company. Nikky manages our HR, Accounts and IT operations.
Organised, high quality and unique.
I think my favourite project was when I did my SVQ in warehousing because I learned a great deal from it and it has taught me the value of being more organised which positively impacts on my working day.
I don’t really have a nickname. Some of the site guys call me ‘big R’ but I’m not sure why and probably best not to ask!
My most embarrassing moment at work has to be when I got the forklift stuck in the mud at the back of our yard and had to ask one of the builders to pull it out with a digger.
If I could be anyone for a day, it would have to be an ice hockey goalie called Marc Andre Fleury as he is an amazing goaltender and I would love to know how it feels to play at the highest level of ice hockey in the world.
If I could interview anyone it would have to be an ice hockey player called Sidney Crosby as he is one of the greatest ice hockey players in Canada and I have always pushed myself to be as good a player as he is.
Outside of work I enjoy going to watch an ice hockey team called the Fife Flyers, who play at Kirkcaldy ice rink. I also like cleaning my car and socialising with friends now and again.
I think the one thing that surprises people the most about me is how much I like spending time with my family rather than going out with my friends. Given I am so young, I think they expect it to be the other way around.
I have been with M&M for around 13 years and work in the drawing office where we prepare all the drawings for our clients which are necessary for planning, building warrants and manufacturing. I work closely with the Directors, installation teams and factory operatives ensuring I have all the correct specifications and accurate measurements to incorporate into the drawings. I have recently been promoted to Drawing Office Manager which I and my family are extremely proud of.
I would swap my job with Millie (the office dog). She gets biscuits in the morning, chicken or beef for lunch everyday and mostly sleeps when she’s not socialising with all the staff. Oh and she gets a treat at home time when she finishes at 4pm and she gets a Friday off!
Bespoke, Quality and Top Class
My favourite project has to be the recently completed orangery we built for the Gleneagles Hotel as part of their refurbished Strathearn restaurant. I played a central role within the projects team for around 15 months where I saw the build evolve into what is now a stunning restaurant extension. Everyone involved in the project was delighted with the result and we received many compliments from different contractors. I was proud to be part of such an iconic project.
Greigo is my office nickname although I’m not entirely sure why! Moose to my ex footy team mates and friends..”are you a man or a moose.”
I hadn’t long started at M&M when I returned to my desk with a bowl of hot chicken soup, lost my balance and emptied the whole lot onto my desk, trousers, shirt and shoes with everyone in full view. It was piping hot too but in order to preserve any shred of dignity I had left, I had to try and play it cool. Not my finest moment but then there’s our work night out with maybe one too many wines! Hmmm, moving on.
Andy Robertson. The best player Scotland has produced in a long time, Captain of the National team and about to play in the champions league final.
Sir Alex Ferguson. He has done everything in the game and i’d love to hear some of his stories from his career. Having read his autobiography, he is someone i’d like to hear more about.
Family & Football. I played football for years and I now coach my son Keigans’ team and an under 17’s team. When we are not at football I enjoy spending time with the whole family.
I almost ended up playing for Middlesbourgh until the Scout that wanted me to go left Boro.
